The Copper penny is a popular place around Wilmington that is located in the historic downtown. The Copper penny offers an old historic atmosphere as if you were back in time to when Wilmington was first established. They offer things on the menu such as a mix of appetizers, salads, and sandwiches. Copper Penny also offers some of the best burgers in Wilmington that are made with short rib and Angus beef patties. Different types of burgers you can get are the Pub burger, black bean burger, southwest burger, Carolina burger and black& bleu burger. All these burgers also come with a side of fries or chips.
Winnie’s Tavern is a small local burger place that is located off river road in Wilmington NC. Winnie’s is a cheap place to eat and has a dive bar kind of atmosphere. Many people around Wilmington will rate this place as the best burger in Wilmington and I would definitely agree with them on that subject. Winnies also offers other items such as sandwiches, fries, onion rights and beer.
P.T.’S Olde Fashioned Grille
Known to have “Wilmington’s best Burger” P.T.’S is the place you want to go if you just want a nice burger and fries in a relaxed atmosphere. The menu offers other things such as grilled chicken sandwiches, roast beef sandwiches, hot dogs, turkey sandwiches, B.L.T. sandwiches, chicken tenders, Grilled cheese sandwiches, and salads. They also serve beer if you are looking to celebrate your savings. Be sure to call it P.T.’S so you look don’t look like a kook.
Fork n cork
Fork n cork is located in downtown Wilmington and is more of a newer restaurant that has come up. Fork n cork has higher prices than all these other burgers but they are definitely very good. They offer gourmet burgers such as lamb burger, duck burgers, and regular beef burgers. Other items that they have on the menu are appetizers, salads, sandwiches and brunch items.
Cookout is not a local place around Wilmington and everybody knows what it is but I still think it has some of the best burgers in Wilmington NC. Cookout may be a chain but it is only offered in the south and anybody that is not from the south always loves to go to Cookout. There are two locations in Wilmington that cookout is offered. You have a drive-through only near UNCW’s campus and you have a sit-down style cookout located on Carolina beach road.
French’s classic burgers
There is only one of these in Wilmington and it is run by a man whose name is Bob French and you will see him in there every time you go. This French’s is super local and has been there for 21 years. In my opinion, French’s has the best burger in Wilmington. Their menu also has hot dogs, grilled chicken sandwich, BBQ sandwich, fried bologna sandwich, and chili cheese fries. French’s does not sell alcohol but they sell coffee.
